In Memories of LuJean
LuJean was really a special person to me. I have led many Summer and Fall photography workshops in Rocky Mountain National Park, and for years, I have brought my students to stay at Castle Mountain Lodge. I always looked forward to seeing all my friends at Castle Mountain Lodge, but especially LuJean. She was such a warm authentically kind and sweet person. She made our stays at Castle Mountain Lodge something even more to look forward to, like coming back to see an old friend. We spent many an afternoon or evening, just talking in the library about our day’s photographic adventures, or about family, or about life. I can truly say she was such a blessing in my life and I will miss seeing her. The last time I saw her was last year, on her final day at the Lodge when she was all packed up and ready to leave. I felt it was such a bittersweet time. It was good to be with my friend, LuJean, but I knew this was a major transition in her life. I was sad to see her leave, not just for her, but for all of us who would no longer experience her warm smile at the front desk at the Lodge, or random discussions in the Library. I always told her I loved her whenever we would leave. I still do love her. I am so very grateful to have known LuJean. She made the world a better place. That’s the greatest accomplishment anyone could ever strive to attain. Thank you, LuJean, for all the ways you made our lives better, just by being you. Love, Kevin Gourley, Austin, TX
